Dong village, India’s easternmost inhabited village, welcomed the first sunrise of 2026 on 1 January 2026.
The occasion was marked by “Alo Prabhat: Dance of the Dawn”, a cultural performance rooted in the traditions of the Meyor and Mishmi communities.
The event was part of the inaugural Sunrise Festival organised by the Arunachal Pradesh Tourism Department.
