Launch

  • Launched by Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs in New Delhi.

Objectives

  1. Accelerate PMAY-U 2.0 implementation through mass awareness and last-mile outreach.

  2. Fast-track verification of applications and expedite completion of sanctioned houses.

  3. Awareness about CRGFTLIH (Credit Risk Guarantee Fund Trust for Low Income Housing).

  4. Ensure convergence with other schemes:

    • PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana benefits to PMAY-U beneficiaries.

    • Priority to Special Focus Groups identified under PMAY-U 2.0.

  5. Promote community mobilisation, Jan Bhagidari and holistic development outcomes.

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation, Government of India, has established a Credit Risk Guarantee Fund Trust for providing guarantees in respect of low-income housing loans. A Credit Risk Guarantee Fund Scheme for Low Income Housing (CRGFS) has been launched on 31st October 2012, which will be managed by the National Housing Bank.

Background: PMAY-U & PMAY-U 2.0

  • Under PMAY-U (2015–2024):

    • 120 lakh houses sanctioned.

    • 94.11 lakh houses completed and delivered.

  • PMAY-U 2.0 (revamped, Sept 2024):

    • Target: 1 crore additional families in urban India.

    • Financial support: Up to ₹2.50 lakh per family for house construction/purchase.

    • Goal aligned with Housing for All.

Implementation of Angikaar 2025

  • Timeline: 4th Sept – 31st Oct 2025 (two months).

  • Coverage: Across 5,000+ Urban Local Bodies (ULBs).

  • Activities:

    • Door-to-door awareness campaigns.

    • Loan melas, cultural events, and outreach camps.

    • Large-scale community mobilisation to bridge implementation gaps.

  1. PMAY-U Awas Diwas 17th Sept 2025 (marking first year of PMAY-U 2.0).

Significance

  • Strengthens last-mile delivery of housing schemes.

  • Enhances financial inclusion and housing security for urban poor.

  • Integrates renewable energy (solar homes) and credit access with housing.

  • Builds momentum for PMAY-U 2.0 completion.
