  • What is DCC?
    The Digital Communications Commission (DCC), formerly the Telecom Commission, is the apex decision-making body for telecom and digital communication policies in India. Renamed in 2018 under the National Digital Communications Policy (NDCP-2018).

  • Key Functions:

    • Formulates and implements telecom and digital policies.

    • Prepares and approves the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) budget.

    • Executes strategic plans aligned with NDCP-2018 goals like "Broadband for All" and improving ICT Index rankings.

    • Ensures digital sovereignty by securing digital infrastructure and data.

  • Composition:

    • Chairman: Secretary, DoT(Department of Telecommunications) ex-officio.

    • Full-time Members: Four DoT Secretaries  Member (Finance), Member (Production), Member (Services) & Member (Technology).

    • .

    • Part-time Members: Four Secretaries from related government departments.

  • Significance:

    • Created in 1989 as the Telecom Commission, renamed in 2018 to reflect a broader digital vision.

    • Vital for transforming India into a digitally empowered society and economy.
